About the Studies
Advanced Studies Book 2 brings together 50 studies in all minor keys by leading double bass pedagogues from the 19th and early 20th-century. Bassist-composers from four countries (Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy) are featured in over 70 pages of music, encompassing a wealth of musical styles, alongside musical and technical challenges ideally suited to the advanced bassist with no fear of playing in treble clef.
These extended and advanced studies are useful to develop skills throughout the entire register of the double bass and the addition of scales and arpeggios will help to create a confident knowledge of the entire geography of the fingerboard.
Studies and etudes are an important aspect of learning to play the double bass and many include musical and technical challenges in equal measure. Over the past 200 years influential teachers have written methods, alongside books of studies, enabling students to benefit from their extensive knowledge and successful teaching careers.
