The piece "Doña Mentira," written in this new style, is one of the best examples of Onda Nueva. It is written in 6/8 bars and contains a considerable amount of syncopations and rhythms unusual in traditional music.
About the Composer
Aldemaro Romero (1928-2007) was a pianist, conductor, composer, and arranger born in Valencia, Carabobo state. Among his musical achievements was the creation of the "Onda Nueva," which was Venezuelan music with jazz harmonies, rhythms, and arrangements that, together with instruments such as drums and electric bass, tried to project Venezuelan music to other latitudes.
