About the Composition
This volume brings together six folk songs from Bosnia, Belgium and Albania alongside an original short quartet by the Montenegrin composer Senad Gačević. Aimed at the intermediate quartet, these are lively, rhythmic and spirited songs which lend themselves well to the double bass quartet medium.
Some quartets are short and succinct but the addition of repeats, different dynamics and articulations will create new performance possibilities for each ensemble. Playable as a suite or individually and ideal as encores, these are useful as both study and concert repertoire. The clarity of textures and excellent part-writing ensures that these are fun for performers and audience alike.
