Teppo Hauta-aho: Jazz Sonatine No. 2 for unaccompanied double bass
About the Composition
Jazz Sonatine No.2 is a wonderfully inventive and accessible pizzicato piece for the progressing young bassist looking for something a little different to study and perform.
The three contrasting movements ( remain in the orchestral register throughout, with opportunities for optional improvisation in the third movement. Ideal for any bassist who enjoyed Jazz Sonatine No.1 (RM097 Pizzicato Pieces Book 1) and relishes playing in a jazzy and rhythmic style. A simple drum beat could be added for extra effect.
Jazz Sonatine No.2 is effective in performance and is certainly 'cool'. It’s a great piece to study or play in a concert and offers much to the performer and audience alike.
