Milo Savage’s Sonata in B Minor is a bold new addition to the double bass repertoire, blending Romantic lyricism with modern harmonic colors. Its four movements are lyrical, playful, introspective, and dramatic, and build an emotional arc that showcases the instrument’s expressive depth and virtuosity.

This purchase includes a bass part and piano part for bass in solo tuning only.

I. Andante Cantabile

This movement opens with a warm, singing line in the bass, with interplay against the dissonance in the piano.

II. Scherzo

The conversation between bass and piano in this movement creates an exciting and playful energy.

III. Rubato–Adagio

This movement explores an introspective, improvisatory atmosphere, with phrases that ebb and flow like spoken song.

IV. Finale

This exciting conclusion is grandiose with a larger-than-life character, brings the work to a dramatic end.
