About the Composer
Nick Greenberg is a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. He has been a professional bassist for almost forty years, during which time he’s played a vast variety of musical styles including classical, jazz, Broadway shows, and even the occasional polka gig. His performances have included concerts at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and in such distant locales as Taiwan.
Nick is the bassist for the Tom Daugherty Orchestra, a Dayton-based jazz big band, and the principal bassist for the Blue Ash-Montgomery Symphony in Cincinnati. He’s also a former member of the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, West Virginia Symphony, Richmond Symphony and the Lexington Philharmonic.
A versatile free-lance musician, Nick is a member of Yellow Wren, a group consisting of flute, guitar and bass, whose repertoire includes classical, jazz and pop music. He is also a member of a violin, piano and bass trio that performs music from the American Song Book. In the band Take Five Turns, Nick makes the switch to electric bass.
Nick is currently working on a recording project featuring his original compositions. This project is being produced by his son, Max Greenberg, a Los Angeles based pianist.
In addition to playing bass, in 2020 Nick published Buried Treasure, his first novel, and "Eat," a short story. His new three-book series will be published beginning in 2025.
Nick is the bass instructor at Stivers School for the Arts in Dayton. He also teaches private lessons for both acoustic and electric bass.
