Schumann: Adagio and Allegro, Op. 70, for double bass and piano (ed. Street)
Schumann: Adagio and Allegro, Op. 70, for double bass and piano (ed. Street)
About the Edition
This edition was inspired by the truly beautiful playing of Rinat Ibragivmov. This was a popular piece he used to enjoy playing, however, no formal edition for the bass has been created until now. This edition represents the exact octaves chosen by Mr. Ibragmov and is accompanied by piano parts in both solo and orchestral tuning.
Adagio and Allegro, Op. 70, is a chamber piece written originally for piano and horn by Robert Schumann in February 1849. Schumann planned alternative editions before it was printed in which the horn or cello or violin can be replaced respectively, now however it is performed on many different instruments. The title was initially intended to be "Romance and Allegro," but Schumann eventually settled for "Adagio and Allegro."[1]
Shortly after this work was completed, Clara Schumann commented that it was "just the sort of piece that I like, brilliant, fresh and passionate."
This edition is dedicated to Rinat Ibragimov.
